Thousands of cognates had iftar in the streets of Mastanlı
The KÖPRÜ (Bridge) Association, which operates in the Mastanlı neighbourhood of Komotini, organised an iftar dinner. Thousands of cognates from Western Thrace attended the iftar dinner.
Established by the cognates residing in Kırmahalle, Mastanlı and Kozluköy Yolu neighbourhoods of Komotini, KÖPRÜ Association managed to bring together thousands of cognates for iftar dinner on Laylat al-Qadr in Ramadan this year as they did in the previous years.
The iftar dinner organised by the KÖPRÜ Association with the support of the cognates residing in the neighbourhoods on 5 April 2024 Friday evening again attracted great interest from the cognates of Western Thrace.
In addition to the residents of the neighbourhoods in the city and the surrounding villages, the cognates from the surrounding villages filled the iftar tables prepared by the young girls and boys of the neighbourhood in the streets of Mastanlı neighbourhood and broke their fast together with the call to prayer. The prayer for the meal was performed by the guess Ebubekir Şahin, a religious official of the Directorate of Religious Affairs of Turkey.
Thousands of cognates who were hosted in the courtyard of the mosque and on the streets had their iftar meal and then the congregation prayed the evening prayer in the mosque.
The Iftar dinner programme continued until Isha prayer with a sermon to the congregation and Taraweeh prayer in the mosque.
Finally, the programme ended with the Mawlid-i sherif recited in the mosque on the occasion of Laylat al-Qadr Night.
