The main opposition calls on the municipal government of Komotini to assume its responsibilities
Antonis Gravanis, President of KOMOTINI DINATA, the main opposition in the Municipality of Komotini, and his team had recently criticised the mayor Yannis Garanis and his administration for the bad views in the areas of Fener and Arogi along the sea.
The main opposition raised the issue again due to the continuation of similar views in the settlement of Fener and on the coast of Arogi.
In a press release published today under the title "Shameful scenes of Garanis' administration in Fener", the KOMOTINI DINATA team stated the following.
"A month after our public complaints, the scenes of shame continue in Fener and Arogi, in the heart of the tourist season.
Unfortunately, Mr Garanis' administration, with its inaction, apathy and inefficiency, is undermining the future of the local population and destroying the municipality's hopes for tourism development.
The "bombed landscapes", damaged roads, uncut grass and trees, broken benches and lamps, garbage in central points and public areas (for two years not even the garbage from the fountain in the centre has been cleaned), implemented in the middle of the tourist season, with incomplete contracts and works, have become a dominant topic of discussion inside and outside the settlement.
The images are anything but the much-sought-after "advertisement" that the mayor "distributed" tens of thousands of euros for tourist promotion.
The disgusting images and the current situation are brought to us every day by angry residents, holidaymakers, professionals and visitors to the area.
Our place is beautiful! It must be one of the most popular tourist destinations in Northern Greece.
"Mr Mayor, why do you look down on him?"
We invite you to assume your responsibilities as soon as possible!!!"
