Statement from the ABTTF on the 21 May elections

The Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF) has published a statement regarding the general elections to be held on Sunday, May 21.

In the statement made by ABTTF regarding the general elections to be held on Sunday, May 21, “As ABTTF, we will definitely invite all Western Thrace Turks who have the right to vote in the Greek Parliament to make our society's voice heard and to express their problems and demands, by going to the ballot box on 21 May. We urge you to support the candidates.” it was said.

In the statement of the ABTTF, it was stated that with the new electoral system on Sunday, May 21, the polls were held, and if a government could not be formed, they would go to the polls again. In order for the parties and independent candidates participating in the general elections to enter the parliament, they must exceed the three percent election threshold applied throughout the country.

Reminding that 27 political parties, 8 alliances and 1 independent candidate participated in the May 21 general elections, ABTTF stated that many names from the Western Thrace Turkish community will compete to enter the parliament as candidates from the majority parties.

Halit Habipoğlu, President of ABTTF on the subject, made the following statements in his statement:

“As ABTTF, we call on all Western Thrace Turks, who have the right to vote, to support the Turkish candidates by going to the polls on May 21, so that the voice of our society is heard in the Greek Parliament, and their problems and demands are expressed.

As we emphasized in the video we published about the new election system to be implemented for the first time in our country, since the votes to be cast abroad will go to the party, not to the deputy candidate, it is very important that the votes of Western Thrace Turks living abroad go to the Turkish parliamentary candidates from our region, not to the party. It is important. On May 21, "Turk's vote should go for Turks!"
