EMTH region pushes EU outreach at Interreg summit
Christodoulos Topsidis, Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region, traveled to Copenhagen to participate in the Interreg Europe summit, aimed at strengthening regional policies across Europe.
His presence with his team at the forum, held under the theme “Sharing solutions for better regional policies,” signaled a strategic push by the region to enhance its international profile and secure additional European funding.
During the event, Topsidis held a series of meetings with representatives from other European regions and institutions, focusing on strengthening networking, expanding access to funding opportunities, and building cross-border partnerships in key policy areas.
A key highlight was that the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace implemented four Interreg Europe projects simultaneously for the first time, demonstrating its capacity to meet EU standards and convert European expertise into local development.
“We strengthened our region’s voice in Europe and pursued more opportunities for our citizens,” Topsidis said, stressing that there was a clear plan for the future.
Regional authorities said this active participation aimed to position Eastern Macedonia and Thrace as a strong player in European cooperation, with tangible benefits for the local economy and citizens’ quality of life.
