Slight fluctuations in traffic accidents in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace in February

The number of traffic incidents remains stable compared to 2024 – Speeding is the most common violation
The number of traffic accidents and fatalities in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace remained almost unchanged this February compared to last year, according to data from the General Regional Police Directorate.
A total of 17 traffic incidents were recorded (compared to 16 in 2024), including two fatal accidents, resulting in 21 casualties. The main causes of the accidents were failure to yield, illegal overtaking, and driver distraction.
Additionally, 10,726 traffic violations were recorded, with the most common being speeding (1,675 cases), failure to wear a seatbelt (288 cases), and driving in the wrong lane (153 cases).
Authorities continue their efforts to improve road safety and reduce traffic accidents in the region.
