Heavy snowfall, icy conditions, and freezing temperatures across the mountainous areas of Western Thrace have led to the closure of schools in parts of Kozlukebir and Mustafçova municipalities.

According to the announcement from Kozlukebir Mayor Erdem Hüseyin, all educational institutions—including kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, and Second Chance Schools—in Hemetli and Mehrikoz regions and Üşekdere village were closed on Monday, January 12, due to dangerous weather conditions.

Similarly, Mustafçova Mayor Ahmet Kurt confirmed that primary and secondary schools, along with Second Chance Schools in Mustafçova and Ketenlik, would remain closed for the day. The decision was made in response to ongoing snowfall, low temperatures, and ice hazards.

Both municipalities emphasized that the closures were implemented to ensure the safety of students and residents, and pledged to provide updates as weather conditions evolve.
