Salıncak Kurbanı draws large crowds in Western Thrace
A centuries-old sacrificial tradition known as “Salıncak Kurbanı” was held on October 4 between the villages of Mehrikoz and Salıncak in Kozlukebir Municipality, attracting a large turnout from the local community and surrounding villages.
The traditional gathering, organised by residents of Salıncak, brought together local residents, invited guests and numerous visitors from neighbouring villages.
CENTURIES-OLD TRADITION CONTINUES
The annual event is a longstanding tradition in the area and continues to bring members of the local community together around a shared cultural and religious practice.
As part of the gathering, participants were served bakırlama, a traditional meat dish prepared for the occasion.
The event once again drew significant participation, highlighting the continued role of local traditions in preserving community ties and cultural heritage in Western Thrace.
