Region legislators to be sworn in on 17 December
On 17 December, a swearing-in ceremony will be held for those elected as councillors for the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace in the 15 October local elections.
It was announced that the swearing-in ceremony will take place on Sunday 17 December at Komotini Concert Hall (Megaro Mousikis Komotinis).
The swearing-in ceremony, which is announced to be open to everyone, will take place in the afternoon and the exact start time will be announced in the coming days.
In addition to those who will swear on the Bible and the Holy Quran, it is estimated that there may be those who will prefer the "political oath".
With a capacity of 7.000 people, the Concert Hall of Komotini is expected to be attended by the families, relatives and friends of the elected officials.
In the previous years, the swearing-in ceremonies were held in the meeting hall of the old governorship building of Rodopi. Due to the great interest and the small size of the hall, there was a stampede in every swearing-in ceremony.
The swearing-in ceremony, which will take place for the first time in a large hall, is expected to be attended by a large number of people from Xanthi, Kavala, Drama and Evros
The region president Topsidis and the councillors who will be sworn in will take office on 1 January 2024.
On the other hand, the Topsidis administration continues to be curious about who will be given the post of vice-president of the region.
