Prominent Western Thrace Turk in Germany Cafer Hasan passes away
A RESPECTED COMMUNITY LEADER REMEMBERED
Cafer Hasan, one of the most recognized figures of the Western Thrace Turkish community in Germany, passed away on April 24, 2025. He was a founding member of both the Düsseldorf Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association and the Viersen Western Thrace Turks Solidarity and Assistance Association, and played a vital role in the establishment of the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF).
DEDICATED TO THE WESTERN THRACE CAUSE
Hasan was deeply involved in inter-association consultations that laid the groundwork for the creation of ABTTF. During a period when the Turkish minority in Greece faced intense pressure, he participated in international meetings aimed at raising awareness of the community’s plight. His efforts helped amplify the voice of Western Thrace Turks on global platforms.

In a statement issued by ABTTF, the federation extended its condolences: “On behalf of the ABTTF Presidential Board and all Western Thrace Turks living in Europe, we express our heartfelt condolences and prayers for our esteemed elder and dedicated advocate, Cafer Hasan. We extend our deepest sympathies to his grieving family, loved ones, and the wider Western Thrace Turkish community. He will always be remembered with respect and gratitude for his invaluable contributions to our cause. May he rest in peace and may his place be in paradise.”
