Police warn citizens against fraud

The East Macedonia-Thrace Regional Police Department has issued a warning to citizens regarding a recent increase in fraud cases.

In their statement, police outlined several common methods used by fraudsters:

Posing as employees of major foreign investment firms and persuading citizens to invest in cryptocurrency schemes.
Impersonating doctors and claiming a close relative has been in a car accident or requires urgent medical care to solicit money.
Pretending to be employees of public institutions or other organizations and requesting payments under the pretext of finalizing transactions, resolving technical issues, or providing social aid.
Acting as accountants or online sellers, tricking citizens with promises of social benefits or fraudulent online purchases.
The Police Department emphasized the importance of:

Being cautious about advertisements and messages online that promise high returns.
Verifying claims of emergencies involving relatives by contacting them directly.
Never sharing bank card or online banking details with anyone.
Reporting any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
