Özgür Ferhat requests urgent funding for Rhodope Forest Directorate
Ferhat emphasized that the Directorate's financial difficulties are of critical importance for the protection and sustainable management of forested areas, environmental balance, and the fight against climate change.
In his inquiry, Ferhat also highlighted a public safety issue in Ayazma village, part of the Yassiköy municipality, stating, “The lack of sufficient funding is having a negative impact on the rational management of forest resources in the area. According to local authorities, workers, and citizens, the Rodop Forest Directorate is unable to fulfill its obligations due to a lack of financial resources. A prime example of this is in Ayazma village, where a large, unsafe boulder is threatening the safety of many residents. The Forest Directorate and local authorities lack the necessary funds to purchase explosives to safely remove the boulder.”
