Wrestling fans met in Alantepe after three years
The historical Alantepe Oil Wrestling and Cultural Events, which could not be held for three years due to the pandemic, took place this year with oil wrestling, folklore shows and concerts.
AGHA INVITED EVERYONE
Organized by Arianna (Kozlukebir) Municipality, the 2022 Alantepe Oil Wrestling and Cultural Events started with the Mevlid event in Domruköy, the village of Şaban Mehmet, the lord (agha) of this year, on Friday, August 26.
After the Friday prayer, the people of the village and the guests paid a visit to the agha.
Later, agha visited the villages accompanied with drums and clarion and invited the people to the three-day events.
On the second and third days, the program continued in Alantepe, the oil wrestling place.
Young wrestlers
On Saturday, August 27, local little wrestlers wrestled, local artists Adem Ballıses and Hasan İsmail gave a concert. The second day activities ended with the concert of Ankaralı Yasemin, a vocal artist from homeland Türkiye.
On the last day of the events, Sunday, August 28, agha Şaban Mehmet came to the main square of Alantepe and greeted the people.
Then, the members of the protocol visited the main square accompanied by drums and clarions and greeted the people.
According to the program, the host of the venet Mayor of Arianna (Kozlukebir) Rıdvan Ahmet, Mayor of Bursa (Türkiye) Osmangazi Mustafa Dündar and Subutay Koç, theDeputy Consul of the Turksih Consulate General of Komotini, made speeches.
Speakers emphasized the importance of organizing historical events.
FIRST TIME THIS YEAR
Mayor of Arianna Ridvan Ahmet gave a thank you plaque to the speakers and sponsors who contributed financially to the events.
Mayor Ahmet also gave a thank you plaque to the members of the press who followed the events for the first time this year.
After the speeches, Komotini Turkish Youth Union Folklore Team took the stage and presented a folk dance show.
The program continued with oil wrestling matches.
First, the wrestlers in the Big Middle category wrestled.
FIRST TIME AFTER MANY YEARS
Later, the wrestlers of the Under-Head category took the stage. Finally, the wrestlers, who were fighting for the title of chief wrestler (baş pehlivan), went to the field and wrestled.

After the wrestling competitions completed, the award ceremony started and medals and cups were given to the wrestlers who ranked high in their categories.
The three-day events ended with the concerts of Foto City Sapes Orchestra, which consists of local artists, and Yusuf Güney, the famous Turkish singer.
