Municipality of Komotini warns citizens about fires
According to the Fire Risk Forecast Map published by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, the Rhodope region will be among the areas with a high risk of fire in category 3 on Wednesday 10 July 2024.
The Municipality of Komotini made a statement on the subject due to the predicted high risk of fire. The statement said that since the local conditions are favourable (topography, local winds, temperature, etc.) it means that an increasing number of fires are likely to occur, many of which will be difficult to overcome.
This means that there is a high probability that an increasing number of fires will occur, many of which will be difficult to overcome. Those who notice a fire or fires are asked to call 199 or 112 immediately and provide clear information about the location of the fire, as well as the exact location where they are.
In addition, citizens were advised to avoid actions that may cause fire as a result of negligence, such as burning dry grass, branches or cleaning residues outdoors, using spark-generating machines such as saws, welding. It was emphasised that the habits of using grills outdoors, smoking bees, throwing burning cigarettes should also be avoided.
