MP Özgür Ferhat calls for justice in special education

With the initiative of Özgür Ferhat, MPs from the New Left Party are bringing the issue of inadequate payments for Special Education sessions to the agenda.

Rodopi MP Özgür Ferhat, along with fellow MPs from the New Left Party, has submitted a parliamentary inquiry to the Ministries of Health, Labor, and Social Security, addressing the severe issues caused by insufficient payments for Special Education sessions by EOPYY (National Organization for Healthcare Services).

A Call for Fair Compensation for Special Education Experts
Special Education plays a crucial role in enhancing the independence and functionality of children facing cognitive, emotional, social, and physical challenges. However, professionals providing this essential service receive an alarmingly low payment of just €1.23 per session, compared to €15 per month for services such as speech therapy and occupational therapy.

This disparity threatens the sustainability of the Special Education sector and negatively impacts the quality of services available to children in need.

Demands of the New Left Party
Led by Özgür Ferhat, New Left Party MPs are calling for:

A significant increase in EOPYY payments for Special Education sessions to reflect actual needs.
A comprehensive payment regulation for Special Education services to eliminate existing inequalities and ensure quality support.

Özgür Ferhat: "The Future of Our Children Is a Shared Responsibility"
MP Özgür Ferhat emphasized the urgency of the issue, stating:

"The future of children receiving Special Education is a responsibility we all share as a society. Ensuring fair compensation for Special Education experts is not only vital for their professional sustainability but also for protecting the fundamental right of children to quality education."

The New Left Party has pledged to continue advocating for this issue and has urged authorities to take immediate action.
