MP Ferhat speaks to 'Tritologies' about the fires
Rodopi MP Özgür Ferhat, who participated in the programme "Tritologies" broadcast on Ert News channel last night (Tuesday 19 March), made evaluations about the fires that broke out in the region, especially in Evros, during the summer months of 2023.
"We all went through a very difficult process together," said Ferhat, "After the fire, a budget of 85 million was allocated by the government. This money was within the scope of the reconstruction of the region. We should not forget this; we have never made politics because of these burning regions."
Noting that the burnt areas are about 1 million acres, MP Ferhat emphasised that the region must be re-developed, especially economically.
Stating that the port of Alexandroupoli has an important energy network and is of great importance, Ferhat said, "There is a Türkiye with a population of 80 million next to us. Tourists from Türkiye can come to the region and tourism relations can be much better. Thus, even this tourism opportunity can be well utilised, which would be very good for the development of the region."
Finally, MP Ferhat reminded that the Rhodope region also suffered great damage from these fires and added that the Rhodope region should also be restructured.
