Mayor of Xanthi meets with Cultural Attaché of the U.S. Embassy in Athens
The meeting was also attended by officials from the U.S. Embassy and Consulate General, as well as the Deputy Mayor for Culture, Mr. Michalis Tsepelis.
The discussions focused on youth engagement, cultural exchange, sports, and innovation, aiming to strengthen educational and cultural ties between the local community and the American diplomatic mission in Greece.
Special attention was given to entrepreneurship and youth empowerment, with references to programs and initiatives designed to foster creativity, technological literacy, and the development of innovative ideas among the region’s young population.
During the meeting, the American Corner Xanthi — hosted at the city’s public library — was highlighted as a key educational and creative hub. The center, a collaborative project between the Municipality of Xanthi and the U.S. Embassy, offers ongoing programs that promote language learning, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking for local youth.
Discussions also included ways in which the U.S. Embassy could support efforts to promote Xanthi as a travel destination for American tourists, showcasing the city's unique cultural heritage and hospitality potential.
