Kozlukebir Municipality has begun distributing bottled water to residents of Mehrikoz village, where the use of tap water was temporarily banned due to health-threatening levels of certain contaminants.

In a statement released on Friday, December 13, the municipality reported that chemical analyses had revealed elevated levels of harmful substances in the village's tap water. Residents were advised not to use the water for drinking, cooking, or other household purposes.

Responding swiftly, the municipal administration took immediate steps to ensure access to clean water for the residents of Mehrikoz.

Deputy Mayor for the Mehrikoz Region, Osman Hoca Osman, assured that measures had been promptly implemented to address the issue and prevent inconvenience for the villagers. "Following the detection of contamination in Mehrikoz's drinking water, our teams acted immediately to carry out the necessary interventions. The water storage tank was cleaned, re-chlorinated, and refilled with water transported by our municipal tankers. Additionally, bottled water was distributed door-to-door to all residents of the village," Osman stated.

He added that all necessary precautions would remain in place until new analysis results are available, and villagers would be updated accordingly.
