Interesting statement from İlhan Ahmet: 'I didn't talk about the Turkish minority'

In his statements to Skai TV, Rhodope PASOK MP İlhan Ahmet said that he never defined the minority as a Turkish minority.

To the question “There is information that you spoke of the Turkish minority instead of the Muslim minority in the past”, İlhan Ahmet replied: “I never said it. The minority in Thrace was defined as a Muslim minority in the Treaty of Lausanne. There is not the slightest doubt about it. Apart from that, there is freedom of self-expression. This is accepted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and my own party. Everyone can define themselves. Anyone who wishes can say I am of Turkish origin or say anything else they want.”

"So you didn't speak for the Turkish minority?" İlhan Ahmet answered the question “No, no”.

“Did the candidates with you talk about the Turkish minority? İlhan Ahmet gave the following answer to the question “Because they are accused of this”:

“Of course, of course. Complaints are made for other issues as well. Of course I'm not a detective. You spoke for Mr. Özgür and Mr. Zeybek. I'm wondering. Why don't these people come out and make a statement? Shocking or not, the point is not to hide behind the party. The deputy must defend his opinion. Beyond that, the people will make their own decision.”
