Group of Turkish cyclists pedalling to Ankara stop in Komotini
A group of 10 members of the Cologne Turkish-German Friendship Association, who live in Cologne, Germany, visited the Atatürk House in Thessaloniki on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye and travelled to Ankara.
Firstly, the group travelled by land from Germany to Thessaloniki and then visited Atatürk's House and then the Consul General of Türkiye in Thessaloniki Serkan Gedik in his office.
Then the group travelled to Komotini where they visited the Consul General of Türkiye in Komotini Aykut Ünal in his office and chatted for a while.
Tomorrow (Sunday, 14 October) the group will move to Alexandroupoli, then they are expected to cross to Turkey and set off for Ankara.
Tayfun Keltek, who made a statement on behalf of the group, said: "Our aim here is to honour the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey and to emphasise the importance of our republic. During this visit, we met with Mr Serkan Gedik, Consul General of Thessaloniki and Mr Aykut Ünal, Consul General of Komotini. They accepted us here. On behalf of my group, we would like to thank them very much for this acceptance."
