FEP Party celebrates December 10 Human Rights Day

In its message, the party pointed out that Greece, as a member of the European Union, falls short of fulfilling its responsibilities regarding the fundamental human and minority rights of the Muslim Turkish Minority in Western Thrace. It criticized the lack of efforts to improve these issues.
Referring to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted on December 10, 1948, the DEB Party highlighted the significance of this milestone for humanity. While acknowledging progress in protecting and promoting human rights globally, the party also underscored the persistence of wars, conflicts, and violations, which serve as reminders of the continued need for vigilance.
The statement criticized Greece’s longstanding discriminatory practices in areas such as education, religious freedom, and ethnic identity. It further noted that Greece has failed to implement numerous European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rulings favoring the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, reflecting ongoing human rights shortcomings.
DEB concluded by extending Human Rights Day greetings to all and reaffirming the collective responsibility to strive for a world of peace, justice, and equality.
