Drug bust by Xanthi and Rhodope security forces: 2 kilograms of heroin found in car

As part of targeted efforts to combat drug trafficking, police from various departments across Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and Thessaloniki, including Drama, Kavala, Xanthi, Rhodope, Orestiada, and Alexandroupolis, carried out operations from August 8 to August 13, 2024.
During these operations, fourteen individuals were arrested, including eleven Greek nationals and three foreign nationals. Thirteen separate cases were filed against them for violations of drug-related laws.
In more detail, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at midday, in an area of Rhodope, officers from the Narcotics Unit of the Xanthi Security Department conducted a coordinated operation, resulting in the arrest of a Greek national involved in drug trafficking. The suspect was found in possession of a nylon package containing 2 kilograms and 121.3 grams of heroin. Additionally, the police seized a private vehicle used by the suspect for criminal activities and a mobile phone.
