Arrest in Rhodope with 2 kilos of heroin
A local man was arrested on February 6, 2025, in the Rhodope region by officers from the Gümülcine Crime Investigation and Detection Department. A criminal case was filed against him for violating drug legislation.
As part of an organized operation, the police first spotted the suspect driving a private car on the Komotini–Greek-Bulgarian border vertical axis. When they signaled for him to stop, the suspect increased his speed and attempted to flee in an effort to avoid police inspection. The vehicle was eventually stopped near a village in the area with the help of the Sapai Border Patrol Department, and the suspect was apprehended.
Upon searching the vehicle, the officers discovered a nylon package containing 1 kilogram and 910 grams of heroin, which was seized.
In addition, a mobile phone and the vehicle used by the suspect to commit the crime were confiscated.
The arrested individual will be brought before the Prosecutor of the First Instance Court of Rodopi, and the investigation is being conducted by the Komotini Crime Investigation and Detection Department.
