Deputy Regional Governor of Rhodope visited by Deputy Minister of Civil Protection Andreas Nikolakopoulos
The topic of cooperation between local government and the Ministry of Civil Protection was discussed during a visit by Deputy Minister Andreas Nikolakopoulos to the office of the Deputy Regional Governor of Rhodope, Mr. Manolis Taptatzis, as part of the Deputy Minister's engagements in the area.
The Deputy Minister was accompanied by Mr. Ioannis Karamanlis, the Regional Police Director of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. During the visit, the Deputy Minister explained the purpose of his visit, informing the Deputy Regional Governor about a meeting held at the Regional Police Directorate. The focus was on managing migration, with the Deputy Minister emphasizing that ensuring citizen safety remains the primary goal.
During the meeting, the collaboration between local government and the Ministry of Civil Protection on addressing the consequences of extreme weather events was also discussed. Mr. Taptatzis highlighted the excellent cooperation between the Regional Unit of Rhodope, the Regional Police Directorate, and its subordinate Police Directorates and Departments, noting their contributions whenever necessary.
The Deputy Regional Governor briefed the Deputy Minister on current issues within the Regional Unit, ongoing projects, and planned initiatives for the near future. The Deputy Minister thanked Mr. Taptatzis for the warm reception and discussion, underlining the Ministry's interest in the region.
