Community members gather for traditional sacrifice event in Mevsimler
The traditional sacrifice event held in Mevsimler, a village in the Evros (Meriç) region, took place on Saturday, November 29, with strong participation from locals and visitors from neighboring villages.
As part of the gathering, attendees were served dishes prepared by the residents of the village, creating a warm and communal atmosphere.
Following the event, Gümülcine Mufti İbrahim Şerif shared a message on social media:
“Today, November 29, 2025, we attended the sacrifice event in Mevsimler village of the Meriç region. The traditional event was held with broad participation from the local community. We congratulate everyone who contributed.”
The Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Gümülcine also issued a message:
“We met with our kinsmen at the sacrifice event held in Meriç/Mevsimler. We thank them for their invitation and efforts.”
Among those attending were Türkiye’s Consul General in Komotini Aykut Ünal and his wife İlayda Ünal, Gümülcine Mufti İbrahim Şerif, SEÇEK Minority Education and Culture Association President Necmettin Kahya, Büyük Derbent village head Mehmet Bostancı, Seyyid Ali Sultan Lodge leaders Ahmet Paşa and Apti Pencal, former SEÇEK ağa Ali Koç, Sofulu Municipality council member Mehmet Çilingir, local administrators, and residents of the region.
