Citizen Service Center in Mehrikoz reopens after four years, Mayor hails fulfilled pledge

Erdem Hüseyin announced that the reopening fulfills a key pre-election commitment of the current municipal administration, emphasizing improved public service access for citizens in the region.

New Appointment to Strengthen Public Services
As part of the reopening, Ahmet İbram, a former regional councilor and deputy regional governor, has been appointed as a full-time civil servant at the KEP Kechros office. He officially took the oath of office on April 15 and will handle citizen administrative services on a full-time, five-day workweek basis.

Criticism of Previous Administration
Mayor Hüseyin criticized the previous municipal leadership, stating that poor decisions and administrative mismanagement led to the closure of the KEP from 2021 onward. According to him, the failure to prevent the reassignment of the center’s only officer resulted in the elimination of its sole staff position, effectively shutting down operations.

“The closure caused significant hardship for residents of the Kechros municipal unit and led to the loss of a vital public service role,” he said.

Gradual Restoration of Services
The mayor noted that upon taking office, the new administration initially restored limited services by assigning a temporary municipal employee one day per week. Over time, the municipality succeeded in reinstating the abolished staff position and, through a transparent recruitment process via ASEP, secured the hiring of a permanent employee.

With the appointment now finalized, the KEP will operate daily, providing consistent and accessible administrative services to the local population.

“From Words to Action”
Mayor Hüseyin said that the reopening demonstrates the administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises.

“Our administration once again proves that it turns words into action and fully implements its pre-election commitments,” he said, wishing success to the newly appointed staff member.

Improved Access for Local Residents
The reopening of the KEP is expected to significantly ease bureaucratic processes for residents in the area, who had faced considerable inconvenience during the years-long closure.
