Cherry producers to be compensated

Özgür Ferhat, Member of Parliament for Rhodope from the New Left party, announced that the damage assessment reports for the cherry orchards in the region, affected by the severe hailstorm on April 21, 2024, and subsequent pollination failure, have been approved.

Following investigations, ELGA (Greek Agricultural Insurance Organization) confirmed that over 80% of the crops in the area suffered damage. As a result, cherry producers will receive compensation.
Ferhat stated that he personally met with ELGA General Director Likourentzos in Athens to present the situation in detail. He expressed his gratitude to ELGA officials for their realistic and fair approach in addressing the issue.
