Beşikli hosts its first-ever Qur’an completion ceremony with enthusiasm
In a landmark event for the local community, the village of Beşikli—located in the Mehrikoz region under the jurisdiction of the Kozlukebir Municipality—hosted its very first Qur’an completion (hatim) ceremony with great enthusiasm and spiritual fervor.
Organized under the auspices of the Mufti Office of Komotini, the ceremony marked the successful completion of the Qur’an by students of the Beşikli Qur’an School. Held on Sunday, May 25, the event brought together members of the Turkish-Muslim minority from the Rhodope and Evros regions, beginning at 11:00 AM.
A total of 11 students participated in the ceremony, with 9 of them celebrating the completion of their first full reading of the Qur’an. The event garnered significant attention and appreciation from attendees, praised for both its emotional depth and well-organized structure.
The ceremony was hosted by students Ennur Rızgıç and Aynur Kuru, while Qur’an teacher Ahmet Rızgıç oversaw the planning and preparation of the program. Students took to the stage in accordance with the prearranged program, confidently reciting their assigned Qur’anic passages and earning praise from the audience.
While the students showcased their recitations, their families warmly welcomed guests, ensuring a hospitable and inclusive atmosphere. The program concluded with a heartfelt hatim prayer recited by student Bekir Rızgıç.
Following the prayer, Kozlukebir Mayor Erdem Hüseyin and Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif addressed the audience with brief congratulatory remarks, praising the students, their families, and all contributors to the event. The Mufti’s office also presented certificates of participation and various gifts to the students.
After the noon prayer, which was performed collectively, guests were treated to a communal meal.
Despite being held for the first time, the Beşikli Qur’an Completion Ceremony left a lasting impression with its strong turnout, spiritual ambiance, and exemplary organization. The students' performance and the warm hospitality of the families were widely admired.
