Prime Minister Mitsotakis described "Pomak villages" for Turkish Minority villages and "Ellinopoula (Greek children)" for Muslim Turkish children.
Prime Minister Kiriakos Mitsotakis held a video conference meeting with the students of the state kindergarten in the Turkish minority village Paşevik in Mustafçova Municipality, attended by Mayor Rıdvan Deli Hüseyin. Mitsotakis described "Pomak villages" for Turkish Minority villages and "Ellinopoula (Greek children)" for Muslim Turkish children which are rejected by the community.
Claiming that "equality before the law" was achieved in the region, Kiriakos Mitsotakis said, "We give equal opportunities to all Greek children (Ellinopoula), regardless of their religion". Despite the fact that the demand of the Western Thrace Turkish community for Turkish and Greek education in kindergartens has been ignored by the administration for years, Prime Minister Mitsotakis's claim that “equality before the law” is provided in the region was met with reaction.
Many individuals and institutions, especially the opposition leaders of the Mustafçova municipality, reacted to the words of the prime minister.
