Antonis Gravanis: The Mayor is 'taunting' residents of towns and villages

The main opposition of Komotini Municipality, Head of Common Vision, Gravanis, stated that the Mayor Garanis was mocking the citizens.

Criticizing the Mayor regarding services for cities and villages, Gravanis said, "The people who have been managing Komotini Municipality for years not only have a condescending attitude towards the residents of the city and village, but also "make fun" of them.

The statement signed by Gravanis is as follows:

“Even this incident is sad enough on its own; Those who have been managing the Municipality of Komotini for years have not only been condescending to the inhabitants of the city and villages, but have also "made fun" of them. 

The reason why we all came to this conclusion is that a few days ago, we see in the pages full of texts that Mr. Garanis sent to the press and media organs, informing the residents of the municipality how many wooden doors were painted and how many basketball nets were replaced in our villages that were on the verge of extinction.

He shamelessly made the same remarks at the evaluation meeting held at the city council last week.

You have abandoned our city and villages.

Mr. Mayor!

Only 2.5 million euro of the budget allocated to the Technical Program of 60 million euros is for the villages (excluding maintenance costs).

You are not dealing with the gigantic problems of schools, playgrounds, squares and roads lighting and cleanliness in our villages. That is why you cannot achieve any successful results.

Almost none of the serious problems of the residents of the municipality, who prefer to spend their lives in our villages, are solved. 

At the same time, you are celebrating that you put a water heater.

Mr. Mayor, our villages are deserted and in a terrible state. They continue to disappear day by day.

You have no right to insult the old people who struggle for their daily quality of life and the young people who choose to live in the villages with their families.
