After the heatwave, rain – Thursday’s unsettled weather, today’s forecast by region
The heatwave is easing, with temperatures reaching up to 38°C, while on Thursday, rain is expected in almost all mainland areas.
Today, the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS) forecasts:
In the Corfu area, Epirus, western Central Greece, and locally in Macedonia and Thrace, there will be partly cloudy skies with local showers or rain until the afternoon. In the rest of the country, generally fair weather is expected, with local clouds over the mainland in the afternoon.
Winds will blow from the west at 4 to 5 Beaufort, and locally in the south at 6, temporarily reaching 7 Beaufort.
Temperatures will see a slight drop. In the west, the Cyclades, and Crete, temperatures will reach 33–35°C, while in the rest of the country, they will range from 35–37°C, and locally in eastern mainland areas, up to 38°C.
Weather: Mostly clear, with local clouds from late morning and temporary local showers, mainly in the mountainous areas of Macedonia.
Winds: From the west at 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 20°C to 35–37°C. In western Macedonia, 2–3 degrees lower.
