Advisory Council head Trampa sends message for new academic year

Mustafa Trampa, head of the Advisory Council of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority and Mufti of İskeçe (Xanthi), has issued a message marking the start of the 2026–2027 academic year, wishing students, teachers, school administrators and parents success in the new school year.

Trampa said education is not only a process of acquiring knowledge but also plays an important role in developing individuals’ personalities, strengthening their connection with their culture and values, and fostering their ties with the society in which they live.

Education plays key role in preserving language and culture
Highlighting the particular importance of education for the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, Trampa said schools have a crucial role not only in preparing children for the future but also in passing the Turkish language, cultural heritage, and national and spiritual values from one generation to the next.

He said one of the community’s priorities should be raising children who are equipped with the knowledge and skills required by the modern era while preserving their mother tongue, identity, cultural heritage and values, and developing as thoughtful, inquisitive, productive, responsible and morally grounded individuals.

Trampa thanks teachers and parents
Trampa also emphasized the responsibilities of teachers, school administrators and parents throughout the educational process.

He praised teachers for their dedicated work, school administrators for their efforts to maintain peace and order in educational institutions, and parents for their support for their children’s education.

He stressed that strong cooperation among families, schools and the wider community is important for children’s academic and personal development, adding that education can become stronger through the collective efforts of all stakeholders.

Call to students to pursue their goals
Addressing students directly, Trampa urged them to pursue their goals with determination, value knowledge and hard work, and preserve their mother tongue, culture, and national and spiritual values.

He also expressed hope that students would use the knowledge and skills they acquire for the benefit of their communities.

Trampa concluded by wishing the 2026–2027 academic year a successful, peaceful and fruitful one for the Western Thrace Turkish Minority’s educational community, including students, teachers, administrators and parents.
