Occupational therapist Naciye Çolak opens child therapy centre in İskeçe
Occupational therapist Naciye Çolak has opened a new child-focused occupational therapy centre, “Vima Vima Eftychia” (“Step by Step to Happiness”), in İskeçe (Xanthi), with services set to begin on Monday, 26 October 2026. The centre aims to support children's development through individualised therapeutic approaches tailored to their needs, abilities and pace of development.
Located at 36 Emporiou Square, the centre is designed to provide a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where children can explore their potential through play, creativity and appropriate therapeutic activities.
Hacettepe University graduate
Born in İskeçe in 2001, Çolak completed her primary education in her hometown, attended secondary school in Sakarya and finished high school at an international school in Istanbul.
She enrolled in the Occupational Therapy Department at Hacettepe University in Ankara in 2020 and graduated in 2024. During her university studies, she gained practical experience through placements in different areas of occupational therapy.
In her final year, Çolak also conducted a qualitative research project, supported by TÜBİTAK, Türkiye's scientific research funding agency, on occupational justice among international students enrolled in higher education institutions.
After graduation, she began the process of obtaining recognition of her degree in Greece. She applied to the Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center (DOATAP) and completed the required additional coursework at the University of West Attica in Athens. She subsequently obtained the authorisation required to practise her profession in Greece.
After gaining experience working in paediatrics, Çolak decided to establish her own centre in İskeçe.
Individualised support for every child
Çolak's approach is based on the belief that every child has unique abilities, needs and ways of exploring the world. The centre aims to develop therapy plans that respect each child's individual characteristics and potential.
Through play-based activities, creative experiences and therapeutic interventions, the centre seeks to offer children an encouraging environment in which they can progress at their own pace.
The new facility is expected to provide families in İskeçe and the surrounding area with an additional option for accessing child-focused occupational therapy services.
