Actions for tourist promotion of Alexandroupolis in Istanbul
With the main objective of promoting the tourism of the Municipality of Alexandroupolis in Türkiye, the meeting of the Mayor Mr. Yannis Zamboukis with the Consul Mr. Konstantinos Koutras took place in Istanbul at the offices of the Greek Consulate.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Tourism and Culture of the Municipality of Alexandroupolis Mr. Kyriakos Aetopoulos and the Director of the National Tourism Organization in Istanbul Ms. Dimitra Babali.
According to the press release in the official social media account of the municipality, in the agenda of the meeting, issues related to the tourism promotion of the Municipality of Alexandroupolis, issues related to the improvement of infrastructure and the main axes of a new strategic planning of extroversion were discussed.
Special mention was made by the Mayor of Alexandroupolis for the necessity of strengthening the infrastructure of the customs station of Kipi. He also asked the Consul to investigate the possibility of increasing the daily number of visas issued.
Consul Konstantinos Koutras expressed his full support to actions aimed at extroversion and promotion of Greek destinations in his area of responsibility.
It is worth noting that this is the first time that the Mayor of Alexandroupolis visits the Consul of Istanbul in order to plan a promotion strategy for the Municipality of Alexandroupolis in the Turkish tourism market.
Deputy Mayor of Tourism and Culture Kyriakos Aetopoulos made reference to the importance of the continuous presence of Turkish tourists in the Municipality of Alexandroupolis and the efforts to be made by both sides to make the destination of Alexandroupolis more attractive.
As a result of the meeting, the first organized effort of a series of actions that will be carried out during the year, the first familian trip that will be organized by the Municipality of Alexandroupolis in cooperation with the office of the National Tourism Organization of Istanbul and Mrs.Dimitra Bampalis, where journalists and influencers will be hosted in our city in May, from the neighboring country in order to tour the cultural, historical and gastronomic routes of the Municipality of Alexandroupolis and to attend festive events that will be held in those days on the occasion of the celebration of Eleftheria.
On the side-lines of the mission - visit to Istanbul, the mayor together with the deputy mayor visited the International Tourism Exhibition EMITT 2024 which is one of the five largest tourism exhibitions in the world that is taking place these days in Istanbul.
