ABTTF declared full support to the FEP Party in the EP elections on 9 June
"As the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF), the representative of Western Thrace Turks living in Europe, we call on all Western Thrace Turks living in and outside our country who have the right to vote to vote in the EP elections to be held in our country on 9 June and to protect our future in order to make the existence of our community felt more strongly in our country Greece and in Europe and to make our voice and demands louder by being directly involved in decision-making mechanisms in European politics! We vote for our political party FEP Party in the EP elections!".
European Parliament (EP) elections will be held in Greece on Sunday, 9 June 2024. In the EP elections, where political party lists will compete and voters can also vote directly for candidates, the new holders of Greece's 21 seats in the EP will be determined.
The Supreme Court of Cassation (Arios Pagos) announced the parties that will participate in the EP elections on Wednesday 24 April. It was reported that 46 political parties from across Greece applied for the EP elections. The Supreme Court approved 31 of the political parties that applied.
On 9 June, the only and only political party of the Turkish community in Western Thrace, the Friendship, Equality and Peace (FEP) Party will participate in the EP elections as it did in 2014 and 2019.
For the first time in the Greek EP elections, Greek voters aged 17 and over living both at home and abroad will be able to vote by postal ballot. No separate ballot boxes will be set up in Greek diplomatic representations for Greek citizens living abroad.
On Sunday 9 June, the FEP Party, the representative of the Turkish community in Western Thrace in the political field, which will participate in the EP elections, started its electoral activities from the village of Şahin in Xanthi on 25 April Thursday evening. FEP Party aims to make history once again in our country and in Europe in the EP elections in which it will participate for the third time by saying "We are here!", to announce the loud voice and demands of the Turkish community in Western Thrace to the whole Europe and to give the message "We exist and we are Turks!" to those who deny our existence in our country.
In the statement made by ABTTF, "As the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF), the representative of Western Thrace Turks living in Europe, we call on all Western Thrace Turks living in and outside our country who have the right to vote to vote in the EP elections to be held in our country on 9 June and to protect our future in order to make the existence of our community felt more strongly in our country Greece and in Europe and to make our voice and demands louder by being directly involved in decision-making mechanisms in European politics! We vote for our political party FEP Party in the EP elections!" and it was stated that full support will be given to the FEP Party.
