A helping hand from Western Thrace to Somalia
Known for their generosity, helpfulness and hospitality, Western Thrace Turks come to the fore with these characteristics at every opportunity. Despite the economic difficulties, Western Thrace Turks, who always keep the sense of helpfulness alive, participate in sacrificial donation campaigns organized on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and strive to reach out to people in need in Western Thrace and in different geographies.
One of the sacrificial donations organized by Western Thrace Turks on the occasion of Eid al-Adha is the sacrifice campaign organized by the IHH-UK humanitarian foundation. IHH-UK strives to provide humanitarian aid to people living in difficult conditions in different regions, both through the organization of sacrifice on the days of the Eid al-Adha, and through international aid campaigns at other times of the year.
This year too, IHH-UK organized a sacrificial donation campaign for many regions. As last year, Ali Tahir Cambaz, the President of IHH-UK, originally from Gökçepınar (Glafki) village of İskeçe (Xanthi) living in London, went to Somalia personally and delivered the procurational sacrifices. This year, it was reported that in the IHH-UK campaign for Somalia donated 800 sacrifices were donated and more than 450 of them were donated from Western Thrace. The Western Thracian beneficents also delighted the children in Somalia by sending clothings and spending money for 150 children.
Ali Tahir Cambaz, President of IHH-UK, went to Somalia delivered the procurational sacrifices himself. On the other hand, he visited a school of orphan children and gave the children gifts for the eid sent from Western Thrace to 150 children.
Sacrificial donation campaigns are organized in Western Thrace through our mufti offices too. In this context, donations are delivered primarily to the poor people in our region and also to different regions abroad.
