25 percent discount on KTEL bus tickets!
According to the agreement reached between the Eastern Macedonia Thrace Xanthi State Vice Presidency and Xanthi KTEL, it has been announced that 25 percent discount will be applied to KTEL bus tickets to and from all villages of Xanthi province.
According to the agreement reached between the Xanthi State Vice Presidency and the National Transportation Company (KTEL), 20 percent of the general discount to be applied on bus tickets will be covered by the state, and 5 percent by KTEL.
Kostas Kurtidis, Deputy Head of Xanthi State, spoke to the municipal radio: “Considering the increase in fuel prices and the economic difficulties faced by our society, we have agreed with KTEL for a discount. There is a discount for our citizens traveling from villages to cities and from cities to villages. This move will both increase the number of trips to and from our villages and ensure that some KTEL lines, which are in danger of being closed, keep open. According to the agreement we reached, we will cover 20 percent of this discount and KTEL will cover 5 percent.”
Noting that Xanthi was one of the first provinces to initiate this application, Kurtidis said, “The application is valid for all municipalities of Xanthi.
Preferring public transport is important in every aspect. We think it will be financially beneficial for citizens. On the other hand, KTEL will be able to revive its lines that are in danger of being shut down. With this agreement, for example, a passenger will pay 0.75 cents for a bus ticket that costs 1 euro. We will cover 20 percent and KTEL will cover 5 percent. The said discount will also apply to those who already use discounted tickets.' he said.
Kurtidis said that the discount agreement between the two parties will be signed in a short time and will come into effect immediately.
