Türkiye, Israel announce to fully normalizing bilateral relations
Türkiye and Israel said on Wednesday they will reappoint ambassadors more than four years after they were called back.
The two states had expelled ambassadors in 2018 on the grounds of killing 60 Palestinians by Israeli forces during protests on the Gaza border against the opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem.
Regarding the topic "It was decided to once again upgrade the level of the relations between the two countries to that of full diplomatic ties and to return ambassadors and consuls general," Lapid's office said in a statement following a conversation between the prime minister and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.
On the other hand, "The steps we would take to normalize relations includes mutually reappointing of ambassadors. At the news conference we held with Lapid in this hall, we made a statement that we started the work on the appointment of ambassadors" Turkish Foreign Minister Çavuşoplu said.
A visit to Türkiye by Israeli President Isaac Herzog in March, followed by visits by both foreign ministers, helped warm relations after more than a decade of tensions.
