The title deed of the islands: 1721 title book of Greece
In the Turkish Land Registry and Cadastre archives, there are 721 land registry books belonging to Greece, 324 of which belong to the islands, covering the years between 1847 and 1912.
The records dating back to the Ottoman Empire of the islands that Greece turned into a weapons depot when they should have had a non-military status in the Aegean are preserved in Türkiye.
Ottoman archives, which shed light on many issues in history and bring solutions to political and social issues, also contain information about the islands that Greece has rapidly armed.
Historical documents, most of which are title deed records, regarding the islands are meticulously preserved in the Kuyud-ı Kadime Archive, which is located in the Archive Department of the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre of Türkiye.
Hakkı Şahin, Head of Overseas Registration and Research Services Unit, gave information to Yeni Şafak about the Land Registry Records of Greece in its archives.
1721 DEED BOOK OF GREECE
There are records of 26 countries in the archive of the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre Archive Department. Among these countries, there are 1,721 Land Registry Records covering the years 1847 and 1912, written in Ottoman Turkish, in which the title deed records of private property belonging to the Greek region are found.
324 REGISTRATION BOOKS
In the archive, Syros, Preveze, Limmi, Rhodes, Kos, Lesvos, Samothrace, Chios, Kalonia Township (Molova), Ipsara Township (Chios), Leros, Kalmioz/Kalimnoz, Karyot, Batnoz Town (Leryoz), İncirli Town (Kos), Yonda Township (Midilli), Bozbaba Township (Limnos), Thassos, Yere Township (Midilli), Mandemande Township (Midilli), Ayasu Township (Midilli), Velestin, Kardiçe, Heraklion, Hanya, Manofaç (Crete), Rethymno, Ayvasil, Yerepatra, There are also 324 official report Record Books belonging to the islands of Pezye, Temnos, Kisamor, İstiye, Aykoron, Merablı, Malvis/Malviz.
OPEN TO RESEARCHERS

95 OWNERS APPLY FOR THE DOCUMENT
The person who owns a real estate in Greece can apply by filling out the foreign registration form on the website of the institution. The applications received by the authorities of the institution are examined by the relevant personnel and the necessary research is done through TARBİS and the applicant is informed about the result. The number of applications made to our institution for the islands in the last 10 years is 95.

The Lesvos Island Detailed Notebook is on display at Emini Server Efendi Exhibition Hall. The ledger can be seen by incoming visitors. Lesbos Island is protected in a private area together with the Mufassal Book.
Security at the highest level
Only authorized persons can enter the room where archive documents are stored and the Defter Emini Server Efendi Exhibition Hall. After the door is opened with a swipe of the finger, a separate password must be entered inside the hall. If the password is not entered, the alarm starts to sound.
Useful when searching for ancestral property
The archive in question constitutes a source for claims regarding the past, both for those residing in Greece and those abroad. A lawsuit can be filed against Greece for property belonging to their ancestors. In Ladadika (Yağcılar) in the center of Thessaloniki, the family applied for immovable properties belonging to their grandfather, and filed a lawsuit by applying to the documents in this archive. The owners, who could not get a result from the Greek courts, brought the issue to the European Court of Human Rights, and the court decided that "the right to property has been violated" and ruled Greece for compensation.
