New Limnos-Canakkale ferry route to boost Greece-Turkiye travel

A new ferry route linking the Greek island of Lemnos and the Turkish port of Canakkale will launch on June 13, expanding cross-border travel in the northern Aegean.

The journey will take about 2.5 hours, with tickets priced at 75 euros and already available on Turkish booking platforms. Local officials say the route will strengthen tourism and transport links between Greece and Turkiye.

The service is expected to boost visitor numbers, especially from Turkiye, and improve access to Lemnos, a key island in the region.

The launch follows Greece’s extension of a fast-track visa scheme for Turkish nationals visiting selected Aegean islands, developed with the European Commission.

Turkish demand continues to support tourism, with more than 1.1 million passengers traveling from Turkiye to Greek islands last year, including Kos, Chios, Rhodes, and Lesvos.
