International students and young Turkish citizens living abroad took part in TEKNOFEST 2025 in Istanbul, thanks to the support of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). The festival, the world’s largest aviation and technology event, offered participants the opportunity to explore aerospace innovations, national defense technologies, and modern tech projects while connecting with key industry professionals.

A total of 183 international students and 58 young engineers attended, engaging in air shows, educational workshops, simulations, and science exhibitions. During the festival, participants developed projects including a wall-climbing lighting robot designed to address illumination challenges during disasters, which advanced to the competition finals.

TEKNOFEST also showcased Turkey’s cutting-edge defense technologies, such as the fifth-generation fighter aircraft (Milli Muharip Uçak), Atak helicopter, Hürjet, Hürkuş, and unmanned aerial vehicles like Bayraktar TB2.

Among the standout teams was the Ventus Teknofest group, composed entirely of international students, who reached the finals in the Unmanned Helicopter category and received a special invitation to the IDEF 2025 defense fair. Another team won the Best Poster Award in the “Oncology 3T Competition” for innovations in personalized cancer treatment technologies.

YTB President Abdulhadi Turus highlighted the festival’s role in inspiring young people from the diaspora and abroad, emphasizing that TEKNOFEST helps participants expand their horizons, connect with peers globally, and return home with valuable experience and motivation.

TEKNOFEST demonstrates Türkiye’s technological progress and inspires the next generation of engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs. It is a vivid example of how our youth abroad and international students contribute to this vision,” Turus stated.
