The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) has published the “Africa Yearbook 2024”, comprising 5 sections, 57 articles, and reviews of 9 books, according to a written statement from the organization.

Published under YTB’s auspices since 2022, the yearbook goes beyond war and crisis topics, providing both Turkish and English readers with in-depth analyses of the African continent. It remains Türkiye’s only comprehensive Africa yearbook, combining systematic coverage of major events with first-time studies on specific subjects to contribute to relevant academic and policy literature.

The yearbook is organized into five main sections:

  • Politics, Economy, Society, and Environment
  • Türkiye–Africa Relations
  • Africa and Global/Regional Actors
  • Culture, Art, Education, and Sports
  • Publications on Africa

It analyzes military, economic, technological, political, and environmental developments, as well as positive developments related to Africa.

The 2024 edition compiles articles on the work of Turkish public institutions engaged in African affairs, providing a multidimensional and strategic evaluation of Türkiye–Africa relations. Contributors include Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, Presidency of Religious Affairs, Yunus Emre Institute (YEE), Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Maarif Foundation, Turkish Red Crescent, Anadolu Agency, TRT, Foreign Economic Relations Board, and Turkish Airlines.

Significant global events covered in the yearbook include the resolution of the Somali–Ethiopia dispute mediated by Turkey and South Africa’s genocide case against Israel, both analyzed in standalone articles.
