Urgent expropriation decision for border security project near Bulgaria

Signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the decision covers the implementation of security infrastructure, including patrol roads, physical barriers, lighting systems, and technological surveillance systems, aimed at bolstering border control along the Bulgarian frontier.
According to the decision, the necessary land acquisitions for the project will be carried out by the governorates of Edirne and Kırklareli as part of the urgent expropriation process. The project also includes the construction of access roads, energy transmission lines, and related facilities.
The purpose of these measures is to prevent illegal crossings and enhance overall security along the border. Authorities aim to complete the expropriation process quickly, enabling the rapid realization of the security infrastructure.
With this project, Türkiye’s European border security capabilities will be significantly strengthened.
Expropriation Decision Published in Official Gazette
The Presidential decree published today in the Official Gazette states:
"For the construction of patrol roads, physical barrier systems, lighting infrastructure, technological surveillance systems, and other similar measures for border security along the Bulgaria border in Edirne and Kırklareli, the expropriation of the lands indicated on the attached map, as well as the construction of access roads, energy transmission lines, and related facilities, is authorized by the Governors of Edirne and Kırklareli in accordance with Article 27 of the Expropriation Law No. 2942."
