The new judicial reform passes in parliament

The plenary session of the Parliament passed a justice ministry bill of judicial reforms on Wednesday, May 1.

In the roll-call vote, 158 New Democracy voted in favour in principle and on specific articles for the country's new judicial organisation, 141 opposition deputies voted against, out of a total of 299 voters. An exception was article 12, which gathered a majority of 190 MPs (ND, PASOK and the independent MP Burhan Baran).

The roll-call vote for articles 1-14, for the "unification of the first degree of jurisdiction", had been requested by the opposition parties SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, PASOK and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE).
