The Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of a priest for the sexual harassment of a woman during confession.
He had been sentenced to four months in prison with a three-year suspension for hugging and inappropriately touching the woman following her confession.
According to the court’s ruling, the incident took place in September 2020 in a small chapel within the church courtyard, which the priest used as a confessional space.
Although the priest initially denied any physical contact during the preliminary investigation, the Supreme Court noted that he ultimately admitted to committing the act.
