In honor of the holy month of Ramadan, the Turkish Embassy in Athens hosted a special suhoor event exclusively for women.

The event, organized under the patronage of Hala Erciyes, the wife of Turkey’s Ambassador to Greece, Çağatay Erciyes, welcomed around 70 distinguished guests, including the spouses of foreign ambassadors and high-ranking Greek officials.

During her speech, Hala Erciyes emphasized that Ramadan embodies the spirit of sharing and solidarity. She expressed her heartfelt wish for peace, harmony, and understanding to prevail worldwide, particularly in Palestine.

Erciyes also highlighted the significance of this year’s International Women’s Day coinciding with Ramadan. She recalled a statement made by Emine Erdoğan, the wife of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on March 8, in which she emphasized that Turkey continues to thrive through the contributions of women in science, arts, politics, economy, and all aspects of life. She reiterated that efforts should be made to ensure women’s empowerment not just on one day but every day.

The event also featured a traditional oud recital, and guests had the opportunity to experience the rich flavors of Turkish cuisine.
