Protest in Athens in solidarity with Palestine

A protest took place in central Athens against Israel’s ongoing attacks on Palestine. Demonstrators gathered outside the Hellenic Parliament in Syntagma Square, chanting slogans such as “Freedom for Palestine” and demanding an end to Israeli military actions.
Participants also criticized the Greek police for intervening in recent protests against Israeli tourists arriving on cruise ships to various Greek islands.
Notable Voices Join the Protest
Greek actor Vasilis Kukalani, present at the demonstration, told Anadolu Agency (AA):
“This is not the first time they’ve tried to wipe out this people. They’ve been waiting for the opportunity. Now, they have the backing of the Western world. Things have reached a point where you can neither lie about it nor pretend it’s not happening. The intentions of Israel and Western powers are now crystal clear.”
Lee Koveni, a volunteer with the “Stop the War” platform, stated:
“We’re here today not just to support Palestine, but also to protest the repression against the solidarity movement.”
Referring to police intervention on Rhodes Island, Koveni added:
“The demonstrators are doing the right thing. They’re demanding an end to what is essentially a genocide, and to the hunger Israel is causing. We stand with Palestine—we are on the right side of history.”
Cruise Ship Protests on Greek Islands
Earlier this week, Israeli cruise ship tourists arriving in Rhodes and Crete were met by pro-Palestinian protesters. Demonstrations were held at the docks to condemn Israeli attacks on Gaza.
In both incidents, several protesters were detained by police.
