New round of notices issued for uninsured vehicles and unpaid road taxes in Greece
Greek authorities have launched a new round of compliance checks targeting vehicle owners who have failed to insure their vehicles or pay road circulation taxes for 2025, issuing a total of 80,429 notices in the third notification cycle.
According to official data, 66,702 notices concern violations related to mandatory vehicle insurance, with 61,317 addressed to individuals and 5,385 to legal entities. An additional 13,727 notices were issued for non-payment of road circulation taxes, including 12,798 individuals and 929 legal entities.
The notices are based on cross-check inspections conducted with a reference date of November 19, 2025, and are added to the results of two previous notification rounds. In those earlier phases, authorities had sent 209,514 notices for unpaid road taxes and 196,559 notices for insurance non-compliance.
As with previous rounds, the primary objective of the notifications is to inform vehicle owners of identified omissions and encourage them to take corrective action, contributing to improved road safety and regulatory compliance.
The ongoing system of cross-checks has already yielded tangible results. Authorities report that 31,777 vehicles have since complied with road tax obligations, while 62,264 vehicles have resolved outstanding insurance issues.
