New bridge on the border between Türkiye and Greece
Kostas Frangoyannis, Greece's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, announced that the construction of a new bridge at the Ipsala border, which will facilitate crossings between Türkiye and Greece, will start in 2024.
29 AREAS IDENTIFIED
In an interview with Parapolitika newspaper, Deputy Minister Frangoyannis evaluated the positive relations with Türkiye and the issues on the agenda. Frangoyannis pointed out that sensitive issues are not touched in bilateral relations with Turkey and that relations are "developing in 29 areas of economy and trade such as transport, environment, small and medium-sized enterprises, tourism". Frangoyannis noted that in the first three years of the positive agenda, important steps were taken in facilitating bilateral trade, revitalising tourism and developing cooperation in the fields of civil protection.

Frangoyannis reminded that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis agreed to maintain the positive climate in bilateral relations during their meeting in New York and said, "We had a very good and concise meeting in New York with Türkiye's Deputy Foreign Minister Burak Akçapar, who is also my interlocutor. Our common goal is to sign memoranda and agreements on certain activities at the Summit to be held in Thessaloniki on 7 December."
CONSTRUCTION TO START IN 2024
Frangoyannis emphasised that the positive agenda will also provide practical benefits for the peoples of the two countries, adding that the construction of a second bridge for the passage of vehicles at the border with Hispala will start in 2024, which will provide great convenience in transport and trade.
CLIMATE CRISIS AND IRREGULAR MIGRATION
Stating that cooperation in the field of climate crisis and irregular migration is also essential, Frangoyannis noted that he is optimistic about the continuation of the "calm" between Türkiye and Greece.
