Municipality of Komotini to collaborate with Haskovo for strengthening the arts through cross-border cooperation

The Municipality of Komotini has approved its participation as a partner in the European project “Sustainable Tips on Art – stART,” led by the Municipality of Haskovo (Bulgaria), under the first call of the Interreg VI-A Greece-Bulgaria Cooperation Programme 2021–2027 – Phase B.
Having successfully passed the first phase with the submission of a concept note, the project has been approved for continuation to the second phase, which requires the submission of a full proposal.
The project aims to establish a collaborative framework between institutions in the cross-border region focused on artistic expression, cultural heritage, and sustainable tourism development. Through creative residencies, festivals, theatrical productions, open-air cultural events, and seminars, the project seeks to enhance public access—especially for young people—to cultural life. Digital media and new dissemination tools will also be employed to create a contemporary and participatory cultural product.
The Municipality of Komotini will be responsible for publicity activities, organizing festivals in Komotini, hosting seminars, and designing digital cultural content.
The project contributes to cultural and social cohesion, active citizen participation in cultural life, and the sustainable promotion of the region’s tourism.
Partners include the Municipality of Haskovo (Bulgaria) as the lead partner, the Regional Puppet Theatre “Ivan Dimov” (Bulgaria), the Alliance for Regional Development and Cooperation (Bulgaria), the Municipality of Komotini (Greece), and other Greek institutions currently being finalized.
The total proposed budget is approximately €1,600,000, fully funded by European and national sources, with a planned duration of 24 months.
Komotini’s participation offers a valuable opportunity to strengthen its cultural infrastructure and showcase its cultural heritage to a broader European audience.
