Mitsotakis: We will improve fire-fighting aircrafts
Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis, who inspected the teams, said that they will buy new Canadair aircraft to replace the CL-215s. Mitsotakis gave the message that they would invest in civil protection infrastructure.
Türkiye is also supporting Greece's efforts to contain the flames with three aircraft.
Mr Mitsotakis, who examined the fire response teams, was informed about the latest situation.
Accompanied by Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Vasilis Kikilias, Prime Minister Mitsotakis watched two Greek, two French and one Croatian CL-415 take off.
RENEWAL MESSAGE REGARDING THE AIRCRAFT
In his speech, Mr Mitsotakis gave a message of support to the operators and engineers:
You are doing a very good job. We are very grateful to both you and the technicians.
What we can do is to make sure that you improve your aircraft and, as soon as possible, get new Canadairs to replace the CL-215s, which are essentially obsolete.

Emphasising that investment in civil defence infrastructure, especially aircraft, is essential, Prime Minister Mitsotakis added: "Know that you will have our full support."
